It's a heartwarming and memorable moment, and is the perfect scene to show that Moira does actually deeply care about her family, even if she sometimes struggles to show it. She's supportive and caring when it counts, and this is one of her best parenting moments by far.

It works out, since the producer chooses her and meets her demands. Every fan can admire this, and will always remember Moira receiving her shiny tennis bracelet.
