Ms. Kaiyah Tselani Tyanna Horton-Seawright Obituary - 2023 (2024)

Kaiyah was born in Columbia, South Carolina on June 7, 2001, to Tawana Horton and Cohran “Tiwan” Seawright. She took flight to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Columbia, South Carolina.

Kaiyah was a proud 2019 Spring Valley High School graduate in Northeast Columbia. She enrolled at the University of South Carolina Aiken and transferred to Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2022. She was pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine.

Kaiyah’s personality was larger than life. Her smile was contagious, and her laugh infectious. That smile drew you in, allowing you to see her immeasurable kindness and compassion for others. Her buoyant personality led her to a love for cheering and gymnastics. She was on the cheerleading squad and participated in competitions during her school years at Spring Valley High School. She had a flair for all things fashion—from makeup to clothes to hair. Kaiyah prided herself on being able to “change it up” at will.No one was more fabulous than Kaiyah! Spending time with good friends and making new friends was one of her favorite pastimes.

Her love for her family and friends was surpassed only by their love for her. She loved life and lived her brief life to the fullest, always encouraging those around her to do the same.

Kaiyah was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Horton (her Nani).

Kaiyah leaves to cherish precious memories and special moments her parents, Tawana Horton and Tiwan Seawright, both of Columbia, South Carolina; siblings, Robert Nicholas “Nick” Harrell and Milana Demur’e Seawright also of Columbia; her maternal grandfather, Wallace Ford of Columbia; herpaternal grandparents, Margaret and Eugene Seawright of Swansea, South Carolina; four aunts: Roselyn (Marcus) Freeman, Chandor Horton, and Candace Horton all of Columbia, and Marcia M. Seawright of West Columbia; four uncles: Cedric Ford and Reginald Brown of Columbia, Marcus Eugene Seawright of Elgin, South Carolina, and Antjuan O. Seawright of Columbia; a special cousin who she loves as a sister, Cinica Pugh, of Columbia; as well as a host of other loving cousins and dear friends.

Though we are heartbroken, we take solace in knowing that Heaven has a new angel with a beautiful smile who is surely making Heaven a brighter place. Our angel needed a higher place so that she could smile down on all of us at once.
