    Indel Webasto - Isotherm - ITC+ air-cooled chiller 100L

    Description

    The ITC+ 3201 Indel Webasto 100 L air-cooled chiller consists of 3 inseparable components: a compressor, a eutectic plate and a thermostat.

The choice of your cooling unit will depend on a number of criteria: the location of the cooler, the positioning of the cooling unit (flat or on a wall), the available dimensions, accessibility to the system for maintenance, the volume to be cooled and the ventilation of the space.

All these criteria are essential to ensure optimum efficiency and an installation tailored to your needs.

    ITC+ air-cooled chiller 100L (20)

    AN INTELLIGENT COMBINATION

The ITC+ (eutectic plate & ITC thermostat) air-cooled chiller is particularly well-suited to boats without a constant source of power, and where access to water is impractical.

It allows food to be kept cool without the need for a continuous power supply, thanks to the eutectic liquid that can store the cold, saving battery power.

The intelligent system detects when surplus energy is available to"recharge" the eutectic plate with cold. Conversely, when excess power is no longer available, the system reduces its consumption.

Thanks to the intelligent ITC thermostat and temperature sensor, energy consumption can be optimized by controlling compressor operation and adjusting the cooling power actually required.

    AN INFINITE REFRIGERATION CYCLE

The ITC+ 3201 chiller is specifically designed to be powered by ambient air. Here's how the system works

    1. A fan draws in ambient air through grilles on the compressor
    2. The air passes through a heat exchanger which compresses the gaseous refrigerant, increasing its temperature and pressure.
    3. The refrigerant circulates through a condenser, releasing its heat into the ambient air. This condenses the refrigerant into a high-pressure liquid
    4. The refrigerant passes through an expansion valve where its pressure drops, cooling its temperature. It then becomes a very cold, low-pressure mixture of liquid and gas
    5. This mixture circulates inside the eutectic plates. The evaporator absorbs the heat from the eutectic mixture, freezing it and allowing the refrigerant to evaporate.
This heat transfer process reduces the temperature inside the compartment, while the eutectic solution stores the cold.
    6. The refrigerant, in its gaseous state, returns to the compressor to repeat the cycle indefinitely.

    FAQs

Why is my chiller not cooling enough? ›

There are several possible causes of inadequate cooling in a chiller. Here are some potential causes and how to address them: Low refrigerant levels: The chiller won't be able to cool efficiently if the refrigerant levels are too low. Check the refrigerant levels and replace them as necessary to solve this issue.

How do you calculate the capacity of an air-cooled chiller? ›

    How to Calculate Chiller Capacity
    1. Let's begin with the basics before learning how to calculate chiller capacity. ...
    2. Now you know how to calculate chiller capacity, but if you are still unsure how to calculate properly, contact GCI Refrigeration. ...
    3. Q = ṁ x C x ΔT. ...
    4. Q = GPM x C x ΔT x 499.8. ...
    5. Q = GPM x SG x C x ΔT x 499.8.

Why is my chiller not working? ›

Two common factors that can prevent chillers from starting include loose wiring and a blown fuse/circuit breaker. Moreover, a power switch in the off state may prevent the chiller from running. Operators must check the equipment for these common problems to ensure the system runs effectively.

What is the maximum capacity of an air-cooled chiller? ›

    Capacity Range

Air-cooled chillers come in sizes ranging from 7.5 – 500 tons. Meanwhile, water-cooled chillers offer a higher cooling capacity of 10 – 4,000 tons.

How do I increase the cooling capacity of my chiller? ›

Here are 5 ways you can increase the efficiency of your chiller and make energy savings:
    1. Check the refrigerant charge. ...
    2. Clean the chiller condenser. ...
    3. Replace the thermal expansion valve. ...
    4. Replace fans. ...
    5. Utilise free cooling or economiser cooling.

How do I know if my chiller is low on refrigerant? ›

Signs of low freon include blowing warm air regardless of how long it's running, taking longer than normal to cool down, or having ice on the refrigerant line. You might also hear strange noises or see a spike in your electricity bill.

How to select chiller capacity? ›

Divide Q (BTUs per hour) by 12,000 (the number of BTUs in one ton of cooling capacity). This yields the chiller capacity required to handle the process heat load in tons per hour: Example: 240,000/12,000= 20 tons/hr.

How to calculate the chiller efficiency? ›

The efficiency of a chiller is usually measured by its COP (coefficient of performance). The COP is calculated by dividing the cooling output in watts by the power input in watts. A higher COP means that more heat will be removed from a space for less energy input.

How many GPM is an air cooled chiller? ›

For anyone familiar with chiller sizing, 2.4 GPM/ton will give you a 10F delta-T across the evaporator. For cooling tower sizing, the rule of thumb is 3.0 GPM/ton for a 10F delta-T across the tower. You may also be aware that although a cooling ton is 12,000 BTUH, a heat rejection ton is 15,000 BTUH.

How can I improve my chiller efficiency? ›

    How to achieve chiller efficiency
    1. Proper chiller selection.
    2. Regular maintenance.
    3. Optimal water treatment.
    4. Match output to actual cooling load.
    5. Implement smart load management strategies.
    6. h3. Guarantee consistent, reliable data.
    7. Heat recovery systems.
    8. Upgrading or Retrofitting.

What temperature should a chiller run at? ›

Generally, temperatures of between 45 and 50 degrees are suitable for cooling equipment. Pharmaceutical uses include use of chilled water in manufacturing and cool storage. Usually, 35 to 46 degrees is the recommended temperature for refrigeration during transport and storage of most cold-chain medications.

How do you know if a chiller is working? ›

Hook a pump in a bucket of water hook it up to the chiller and run it to see if the water gets cold.. May be the only way to test it..

What is the life expectancy of an air-cooled chiller? ›

The typical life cycle of a chiller depends on its type. On average, an air-cooled chiller's lifespan is anywhere from 15 years to 20 years. A water-cooled chiller is normally closer to 20 to 30 years. Where your chiller is located and the conditions it's under can also affect its life expectancy.

What is the COP range for air-cooled chillers? ›

Under standard rating conditions at full load operation, the minimum required coefficient of performance (COP) ranges from 2.40 to 3.06 for air-cooled chillers and from 3.80 to 6.39 for water-cooled chillers.

What is the CFM of a chiller? ›

CFM is cubic feet per minute of air that will be discharged into the conditioned space. CFM shows the volume of air entering the room per minute (as it is cubic feet per minute). TR is tonnage of refrigeration which means amount of heat extracted to produce one ton of ice.

What causes low suction temperature in chiller? ›

Insufficient refrigerant will cause the pressure in the system to be abnormal, resulting in a decrease in suction pressure, low-pressure alarm of the chiller, and equipment shutdown. The leakage of refrigerant can be from the compressor, condenser, filter, expansion valve and evaporator, etc.

Why is my fridge chiller not cold? ›

There are several causes for a refrigerator that doesn't cool, including dirty condenser coils, poor ventilation, improper installation, faulty or dirty gasket seals, unorganized food storage, appliance location and malfunctioning internal parts.

Why is my aquarium chiller not cooling? ›

For air-cooled condensers, dust and debris buildup on fins and fan blades can inhibit air flow, lowering the cooling capacity. For water-cooled condensers, heat transfer can be reduced by scale formation, biological growth, or corrosion.
