Crown Club members take Cape Cod tour | Arkansas Democrat Gazette (2024)

A large group of Crown Clubbers departed in early fall for a Cape Cod Adventure. The first stop of the day was for lunch at Casey Jones Country Village. Opened since 1965, Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store is like walking the 1800’s. Thousands of antiques adorn the walls and hang from the ceiling. They also had time to visit the soda shop or many of the other shops in the village.

After lunch, the travelers were back on their deluxe motorcoach and continued on their journey. The group stopped for the night in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The following day, they stopped in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the Historic Market Square and helped the town celebrate their 225th Anniversary. The square had multiple entertainment groups and an abundance of booths and good eats. The group also visited the East Tennessee History Center before continuing on to Manassas, Virginia for the night.

The next morning they visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia. Then the group stopped for lunch before heading to Hershey, Pennsylvania, to tour Hershey’s Chocolate World Visitor’s Center. They enjoyed the sights, smells and tastings at the Chocolate World. The clubbers stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner before continuing to the Holiday Inn in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.

Monday morning, the group was up and making their final push to Cape Cod. They enjoyed a delicious lunch and great views of the water at Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale Restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut. After a few more travel miles, the group stopped at the Irish Village for dinner and entertainment before heading to their Cape Cod hotel in Hyannis, Maine.

The next morning, the group met their knowledgeable local guide. The travelers enjoyed a detailed guided tour of Hyannis and Sandwich. They visited the JFK Museum and the Sandwich Glass Museum. They had some free time in historic downtown Hyannis to enjoy lunch and explore on their own. After a full day of sightseeing, the group enjoyed a Lobster dinner and a night full of lively entertainment.

Wednesday morning, the group was up early to catch the Island Queen Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Everyone absorbed the beauty of Martha’s Vineyard.

The following day, the group thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the Outer Cape. One of the features, was the Chatham Lighthouse. They enjoyed the views of many lighthouses in the Cape area. They also spent time at the Eastham Windmill and the Cape Cod National Seashore. They also appreciated time in the quaint town of Provincetown, where they enjoyed more wonderful fresh seafood for lunch and a little shopping time. After a little time to freshen up at the hotel, the Crown clubbers enjoyed dinner at Cape Cod Tasty Buffet and a fun time at “The Hop”.

Unfortunately this morning, it was time to leave the Cape. The group traveled to Foxwoods Resort Casino, where they had time for some gaming, lunch and shopping at the Outlet Mall. After a long drive after getting stuck in New York traffic, they made it to the Holiday Inn in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.

The next day, the group continued their journey towards home. They stopped for a visit and some awesome lunch in historic Staunton, Virginia. Following lunch, they enjoyed a visit at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Museum and Home.

This evening, the group was thrilled with a sumptuous Italian buffet and fresh pasta bar at the Natural Bridge Park and Historic Hotel. This was a very special stay at this charming hotel with wonderful fall foliage views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Many also enjoyed the illuminated Creation Story at the Natural Bridge.

Many hated to leave this hotel and area, but they continued their drive and stopped in the Market Square District of Knoxville for some lunch and then enjoyed the fantastic exhibits at the Knoxville Museum of Art. After further travels, they enjoyed dinner at Austin’s Steak and Home-style Buffet before checking into their overnight accommodations in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Cindy Cullins, director of Relyance Bank Crown Club reminded the group of the coach tour to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon in October of 2017 and the Cuba Cruise in May 2017. The Iceland and River Cruise are both full.
